When several products go into one sprayer tank, the correct pesticide tank-mixing order is the order specified by the current product labels and applicable local requirements. There is no universal sequence that replaces those directions. Before opening containers, confirm each product is allowed for the intended crop and site, review mixing restrictions, and make sure the sprayer is ready for the planned application.

This checklist helps operators plan and communicate the job. It does not recommend pesticides, product combinations, application rates or weather limits. Follow the label for each product, the sprayer manual and applicable local requirements.
1. Confirm the intended use before mixing
Check the current label for each product. Confirm the crop, target, site, application method, restrictions and required protective equipment. Check whether tank mixing with the other intended products is allowed or restricted. Never assume a product is suitable for an orchard because it has been used on another crop or site.
Product labels and permitted uses differ by market and can change. The sprayer applies the selected mixture; it does not determine whether a chemical combination is permitted.
2. Find the pesticide tank mixing order on the labels
Use the addition order written on the labels or provided by the product manufacturer for the exact products and carrier. Do not rely on a generic acronym, a sequence remembered from another job or directions for a different formulation. Product formulation, carrier and label directions can change the required sequence.
If a product provides no clear mixing order, ask its manufacturer or a qualified local agricultural adviser before adding it. Do not put every product into the tank and try to correct a problem afterward.
3. Treat compatibility checks as one limited check
When a label or product manufacturer recommends a compatibility test, follow that method and use the carrier and proportional amounts specified in the instructions. Observe only what the test procedure asks you to check.
A jar test does not establish that a mixture is legally permitted, safe for a crop, effective against a target or suitable for every sprayer. It addresses only the compatibility question the test is designed to check. If the result or instructions are unclear, do not proceed until a qualified adviser confirms the next step.
4. Confirm agitation, carrier and tank preparation
Use the carrier, water conditions, tank fill level and agitation procedure stated in the product instructions and sprayer manual. Requirements depend on the products and equipment; do not assume the same agitation setting or tank sequence applies to every job.
Before filling, check that the tank, filters, hoses and valves are clean and in suitable condition for the planned mixture. If the sprayer has just been used with another product, follow the applicable product and machine cleanout instructions before changing mixtures.
5. Protect the operator and the site
Wear the protective equipment required by the product labels and local rules while measuring, mixing, loading, applying and cleaning. Remote operation changes where the operator controls the machine; it does not remove exposure from splashes, drift, contaminated surfaces or handling concentrated products.
Prepare the mixing area and work route before starting. Keep people and animals clear, manage spills according to product instructions and local requirements, and protect drains and waterways from contamination. If conditions fall outside the label or you cannot control where spray goes, stop and reassess.
Pre-mix checklist for sprayer operators
- Each product label permits the intended crop, site and application method.
- Tank mixing is not prohibited and any restrictions are understood.
- The labels or manufacturer instructions provide a clear product-specific addition order.
- Compatibility testing is completed only when instructed, and its limits are understood.
- Carrier, tank preparation and agitation follow product and sprayer instructions.
- The sprayer is clean and suitable for the intended mixture.
- Required protective equipment, spill response and application controls are ready.
- The operator knows to stop if any instruction or condition is uncertain.
If one of these points cannot be confirmed, do not begin mixing. Resolve the question before loading the tank.
Use the right sprayer configuration
MERI’s RCS range includes tracked boom and airblast sprayer configurations for different agricultural applications. Match the sprayer setup to the crop, row layout, application target and product instructions. The equipment does not replace label review, crop-specific advice, calibration or the operator’s responsibility to follow applicable requirements.
See the MERI remote-control agricultural sprayer range for model information. Before changing products, use the sprayer cleanout guide when the product instructions call for cleaning.
Frequently asked questions
Is there one pesticide tank-mixing order for every sprayer?
No. Follow the current instructions for the exact products and carrier. A general sequence cannot override product labels or local requirements.
Does a jar test prove a tank mix is safe to apply?
No. It can check compatibility when product instructions recommend it. It does not establish permitted use, crop safety or efficacy.
What should I do when product labels do not agree?
Stop and ask the product manufacturer or a qualified local agricultural adviser to clarify the instructions before mixing. Do not guess which direction to follow.
Does remote control eliminate chemical exposure?
No. Remote operation changes the operator’s position during machine travel, but chemical handling, drift and contaminated equipment still require label-based precautions.
Plan before filling the tank
A reliable spray job starts with product instructions, a confirmed mixing plan and a suitable sprayer setup. Review the labels, identify the route and target, then check the tank and application system. If any product or mixing direction remains uncertain, pause and resolve it before loading the machine.
