Off-grid clearing changes the equipment decision. Reliable charging may be unavailable, access roads may be poor and every service interruption can consume a large part of the shift. A diesel remote forestry mulcher can support extended work with field refuelling, but the project still needs a fuel, transport, spares, communications and recovery plan.
Fast project decision
Choose diesel when refuelling is more practical than high-capacity charging and the project requires extended field work. The advantage depends on getting fuel, filters, tools and service support to the site; diesel alone does not solve access or downtime.
Start with the site, not the machine
Document travel distance from the service base, road and bridge limits, trailer access, fuel storage rules, daily work target, vegetation and branch distribution, slope and travel direction, weather exposure, communications coverage, fire controls and the nearest recovery point.

Compare the two MERI power platforms
| Decision point | ME-RFM1000-D | ME-RFM1000-E |
|---|---|---|
| Power | 25 hp water-cooled diesel | 30 kWh LiFePO4; 9 kW water-cooled cutter motor |
| Working width | 1,000 mm | 1,000 mm |
| Remote range | 500 m | 200 m |
| Operating plan | Continuous with planned refuelling and service | Approx. 7 h; approx. 6 h fast / 12 h standard charging |
| Net weight | 550–600 kg | 882 kg |
| Slope reference | 45° published operating slope | 45° gradeability; 35° maximum operating angle |
Both product TDS documents reference material up to 30 cm under suitable conditions. That figure is a maximum material reference, not a guaranteed production rate. Species, density, moisture, stem angle, hidden debris, terrain and feed method must be reviewed.
Project workflow
- Confirm transport dimensions, route limits, unloading ground and a recovery plan.
- Stage approved fuel, spill response, routine service parts and communications equipment.
- Survey the cutting zone and isolate wire, rock, utilities and unstable ground.
- Work from an established access corridor with clear refuelling and inspection intervals.
- Record fuel use, wear and delays so the next shift and spare-parts stock are based on actual conditions.
Operating limits that belong in the quotation
Continuous operation means the engine is not limited by a battery discharge cycle; it does not mean maintenance-free or uninterrupted work. Fuel handling, fire precautions, cooling-system inspection, filters, cutting-tool wear and transport remain part of the operating plan.
The operator must retain clear sight of the machine and work zone. Remote control changes the operator position; it does not replace training, inspection, project-specific risk controls or the machine manual.
What to send MERI for model selection
Site evidence
Send representative photos or video, slope and travel direction, vegetation sizes, ground conditions, obstacles and the narrowest access.
Commercial plan
Send daily working hours, destination, transport limits, fuel or charging access, service capability and required spare-parts support.

Buyer FAQ
Does the maximum branch reference apply to every site?
No. Treat it as a TDS reference under suitable conditions. Send representative material and site evidence before configuration is confirmed.
Does remote control make the work autonomous?
No. These machines require an operator, clear visibility, an exclusion area, inspection and active control throughout the task.
Which power system should a buyer choose?
Choose according to shift length, fuel or charging access, transport, maintenance capacity, noise and local-emission requirements—not one specification alone.
Turn the site survey into a configuration
Send vegetation, slope, access width, daily work window and destination. MERI will compare the verified diesel and electric configurations.
